Beech Mountain Resort is seeking a highly motivated individual for a role as a Lift Mechanic. A Lift Mechanic is responsible for maintenance of lift equipment, in the winter and summer. The position is required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all of Beech Mountain Resort lifts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Following ANSI B-77 codes, manufacturers requirements, federal and state requirements, and Insurance requirements
  • Performing all prescribed maintenance on all lift equipment
  • Completing all required maintenance logs and records
  • Performing daily pre-operational tests and inspections on all lift equipment
  • Monitoring and testing equipment regularly
  • Performing daily inspections of lift equipment.
  • Directing accurate daily checks of all machinery, engines, motors, coupling/uncoupling points and other critical areas
  • Offering continual training and assistance of the standard operational and safety practices to the lift attendants, lead lift operators, scanners and tubing attendants on all lifts
  • Referring to equipment technical manuals to ensure proper procedures are followed and proper settings are maintained
  • Notifying Supervisor of any condition or occurrence that may adversely affect the safety operation or the quality of the experience of our guests
  • Observing lift operations to ensure they are safely loading and unloading guests on the lifts
  • Presenting in a friendly and courteous manner at all times and provide efficient, timely service to guests and other staff
  • Assisting and instructing guests on and off of the lifts or in the use of tubing facility
  • Assisting other departments in their daily routines requiring use of the lifts
  • Dismantling of machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts
  • Replacing defective parts with new parts or repairs or reproduces parts from various kinds of metal stock
  • Assembling and testing machine to verify correction of malfunction
  • Reading mountain operations manuals, employee handbooks, and lift manufactures manuals
  • Checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies
  • Informing manager of needed parts and materials need to maintain equipment
  • Following all company safety policies and procedures
  • Following all manufactures safety policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that all maintenance information on all equipment and systems is recorded in compliance with ANSI-B77 codes

 

All Beech Mountain employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holidays and weekends.

Job Requirements:

  • Good work ethic, dependability and excellent customer service & communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of lift operations and the resort industry
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard (mountain biking ability is preferred but not required)
  • Work in adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, snow, wind, rain, and on variable surfaces
  • Ability to operate all of Beech Mountains ski lifts
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Lifting, racking, pushing, pulling, and raking are required
  • Must be able to operate ATV and snowmobile
  • Valid driver’s license
