Know Your Neighbor: High Country Wellness

Meet High Country Wellness, a local practice helping men and women throughout Boone and the surrounding High Country feel better as they navigate changes in hormones, weight, energy, and overall health.

High Country Wellness specializes in women’s hormone replacement therapy, testosterone replacement therapy for men, and medically guided weight loss. But for Stephanie and her team, the work goes far beyond treating a number on a lab report or handing someone a prescription. We’ll let Stephanie take it from here.

I’m Stephanie Johnson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, and the owner of High Country Wellness. I started High Country Wellness because I wanted to create the kind of healthcare experience I felt was missing for so many adults: a place where you have time to talk about what’s going on, where your symptoms are taken seriously, and where your care is extremely individualized and comprehensive.

So many of the people who walk through our doors tell us some version of the same story:

They don’t have the energy they used to. Their weight is changing despite doing many of the same things they’ve always done. They’re struggling with sleep, hot flashes, anxiety, brain fog, low motivation, changes in sexual health, or a loss of strength and muscle. Sometimes they’ve been told their labs are “normal,” but they still don’t feel like themselves.

That’s where we come in.

Who We Serve

We work with men and women throughout the High Country navigating weight gain, perimenopause, menopause, low testosterone, and other hormonal changes.

For women, that often looks like changes in sleep, mood, weight, energy, body composition, hot flashes, brain fog, and sexual health.

For men, we commonly work with concerns related to low testosterone, including decreased energy and motivation, weight gain, loss of muscle and strength, changes in mood, and decreased libido or sexual function.

And for both men and women, we help patients who have struggled to lose weight and are looking for a more individualized, medically guided approach.

What Makes High Country Wellness Different

One of the things that matters most to me is that our patients feel like they have a team in their corner. We don’t believe hormone or weight-loss care should be one-size-fits-all, so we individualize treatment based on your symptoms, health history, goals, and lab work.

Depending on your needs, care may include hormone replacement therapy, testosterone replacement therapy, GLP-1 medications, health coaching, body composition scans, nutrition and exercise guidance, and ongoing support. Our goal isn’t to hand you medication and send you on your way.

A Local Practice Here in the High Country

Being part of the Boone community is incredibly important to us. High Country Wellness was built to provide a local option for personalized hormone and weight-loss care, with a team you can get to know!

Our team includes nurse practitioners, a health coach, and medical support staff who work together to help our patients throughout their care. We’re grateful to care for people throughout Boone and we’re excited to continue becoming a resource for our neighbors who have questions about hormones and metabolism.
