 Job Description

VPC Builders is a full-service construction firm specializing in commercial and residential construction, additions and renovations, and home projects. This position is full time and applicants must be able to work in our Banner Elk, NC office.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Bookkeeping/Accounting Duties:

  • Preparing payroll
  • Processing and reconciliation of invoices, statements and other documents
  • Allocating and posting financial transaction details to subsidiary books
  • Drawing up financial statements
  • Preparing checks, payments and bank deposits
  • Develop, implement, and maintain construction management system, including setting up jobs, budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports
  • Manage process for proper coding of construction invoices (payment applications) and lien releases for contractor and vendor invoices
  • Maintain contract documents including records of lean releases in appropriate files
  • Analyze and review construction status with Project Mangers. Direct and participate in cost analyses
  • Prepare/gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for internal and external auditors

Administrative:

  • General office duties, such as drafting, scanning, correspondence and filing
  • Experience with Microsoft applications and Outlook
  • Maintain subcontractor list and documents
  • Submit monthly reports

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyses
  • Strong Self-managing Skills. Must provide examples
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Multi-tasker and ability to handle new projects while completing everyday workload
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving and strong decision-making capability
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
