Public Comment Period Open For Proposed NC 105 Improvements (Updated 10/19)

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce continues to monitor developments related to the proposed improvements to N.C. 105 in the Town of Boone. The NCDOT held a public meeting Tuesday, October 9th, on the Watauga Campus of Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute in Boone to discuss the scope, timeline, and impacts of the proposed project.

Residents, business owners, and those that use this important thoroughfare are encouraged to submit public comments to the contacts listed below by October 24, 2018

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to work with local businesses and residents in the impacted area to advocate for improvements to the overall safety and traffic flow of N.C.105, while also ensuring that business and residential impacts will be minimized based on public involvement in this process. 

Project Description

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to improve N.C. 105 from U.S.321 (Blowing Rock Road) to the N.C. 105 Bypass in Boone, Watauga County. NCDOT is currently collecting information within the project study area for inclusion in the environmental document.

Letter on behalf of Concerned Businesses & Residents of the NC 105 Corridor

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce has been meeting regularly with concerned business/land owners, residents, and others who utilize the NC 105 corridor. Through three meetings over a 10-day period, the following letter was drafted as a unified statement on behalf of the business community and residents of this area. This letter is available for interested parties to sign in support, from 8am Friday, October 19 through Noon, Tuesday, October 23, during normal business hours at Peabody's Wine & Beer Merchants, Baymont by Wyndham, and the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce office. The signed document will be submitted as a public comment to both addresses below.
