Charleston Forge is a 40-year-old, locally owned business. We currently have an 80-person team in Boone plus more than 20 sales reps that sell our furniture throughout the US and Canada. Everything we do is made by hand and made to last a lifetime. About the Role

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Wood Finisher to join our finishing team. In this role, you will help prepare and finish our handcrafted furniture, ensuring every piece meets our standards of quality and durability. This is hands-on production work in a team environment, and on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Sand wood furniture components to prepare surfaces for finishing
• Apply spray finishes to furniture pieces with attention to consistency and coverage
• Apply glazes and other decorative finishing treatments
• Inspect finished pieces for quality and consistency, making corrections as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper care of tools and spray equipment
  
  

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to wear a respirator for part of the workday
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• Prior experience in wood finishing, sanding, or spray application is a plus, but not required — we provide on-the-job training

Position Summary

The Furniture Assembly Expert is responsible for accurately and efficiently assembling a variety of furniture products, including attaching wood and glass tops to metal bases and securing upholstered cushions to metal frames. This role requires sharp attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a commitment to quality — including the confidence to raise concerns when standards are at risk.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assemble furniture products according to specifications, including:
  • Attaching wood tops to metal bases
  • Attaching glass tops to metal bases
  • Securing upholstered cushions to metal bases
• Inspect components and finished pieces with a keen eye for detail, identifying defects or inconsistencies before and after assembly
• Speak up promptly when quality concerns arise, even if it means slowing down or stopping a build
• Perform minor finish touch-ups to ensure a polished, market-ready product
• Work collaboratively as part of a team to lift, maneuver, and assemble large or heavy items safely
• Partner with team members to troubleshoot and solve assembly problems as they arise
• Coordinate with the Production Manager to prioritize daily work assignments and meet quality and throughput goals
• Use company business software to:
  • Check inventory levels
  • Print carton/shipping labels
  • Help ensure customer orders and needs are met accurately and on time
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and maneuver large furniture components throughout a full shift
• Comfortable performing hands-on, repetitive assembly tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in furniture assembly, manufacturing, or a similar hands-on production role
• Experience with hand tools and/or power tools
• Basic understanding of inventory or warehouse management systems
