The Town of Boone/ Downtown Boone Development Association is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Downtown Specialist. This position performs a wide variety of duties in support of the Downtown Boone Development Association (DBDA) and the implementation of the NC Main Street program.

This role involves regular interaction with the public and close collaboration with downtown partners, Town departments, and DBDA leadership to support downtown programs, events, and organizational operations.

Key Responsibilities may include: 

  • Providing customer service and regular communication with the general public, downtown businesses, and partners
  • Assisting with the coordination and execution of downtown events and activities, including set-up and breakdown
  • Collaborating with DBDA staff, Board members, volunteers, and Town departments on downtown planning and programming
  • Helping facilitate monthly DBDA Board/Committee meetings, including meeting logistics and preparation of meeting agenda and minutes
  • Assisting with outreach, promotions, and basic administrative tasks related to downtown initiatives
  • Supporting social media and marketing efforts; experience with graphic design tools such as Canva is preferred
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements: May require the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently under regular supervision
  • Experience with or interest in social media and basic graphic design preferred
  • Interest in downtown development, events, and community engagement a plus

Work Schedule: Work is performed under regular supervision. Evening and weekend hours are required,particularly in support of downtown events and meetings.

Salary: Employer.

$18.48 Employee will serve a six-month probation. Town of Boone is an Equal Opportunity
