While changes like this are inevitable, especially in the rapidly evolving technology sector, let us stop for a moment to consider the impact Carolina West Wireless has fostered in our community over 35 years of service. During that time, they have brought wireless connectivity to a region that is not the easiest to cover, with a staff largely from this area, so they spoke with local knowledge about products and coverage areas. They have invested millions of dollars in event sponsorships, non-profit fundraisers, support of local public schools, and other causes. Their staff have invested their time and talents within our community through countless hours of volunteer support. Carolina West Wireless has been a shining example of how businesses can positively impact the community around them.

Our thoughts are with the staff members that have just recently learned of this news, and we encourage our local businesses to keep the employees of Carolina West Wireless on your minds. While some staff may be able to move to Verizon as part of the transition, others will be looking for new opportunities. As technology continues to evolve and the demands on wireless networks continue to grow, it has become increasingly important to ensure our customers have access to the scale, infrastructure, and innovation needed for the future.

Carolina West Wireless is transitioning our wireless network to Verizon and will discontinue our wireless services effective September 30, 2026. To keep your phone number and avoid service interruption, you must transfer your account to Verizon by this date or choose another provider.

What does this mean for you?

  • As a valued customer, to make your transition as simple and seamless as possible, Verizon is offering you an exclusive limited-time offer to transfer your service to America’s best network.*
    • If you switch before July 30, you will receive a $150 Mastercard gift card per line of service and no activation fees.**
    • This great offer can also be combined with current Verizon promotions. Customers can choose to bring their own device or consider any of the Verizon device offers. To check your device eligibility with Verizon, go to verizon.com/bring-your-own-device.
    • Business customers are also eligible for special offers and will be contacted directly with more information.

  • Beginning July 1, you will need to take action to transition your service to Verizon. For your convenience, Verizon representatives will be present at pop-up locations and all our retail store locations during normal business hours (9:00 AM – 8:00 PM Monday – Saturday; 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM Sunday).
