Outreach & Education Team Position Summary
The Outreach & Education Team advances the OASIS mission by building relationships, cultivating support, and increasing community awareness. Through prevention education, community partnerships, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and strategic communications, the team works to prevent violence, support survivors, and foster safer, more resilient, and trauma-informed communities.
OASIS utilizes a collaborative, cross-trained team model in which staff provide outreach, education, and community engagement services while developing and applying specialized expertise in designated program areas. Staff are expected to exercise sound professional judgment, work both independently and collaboratively, and represent OASIS professionally throughout Watauga and Avery Counties.
Primary Responsibilities of the Outreach Coordinator:
Community Outreach & Coordinated Response
• Maintain cross-training in Direct Client Services to effectively respond to community disclosures, provide initial support and resource information, and facilitate warm handoffs to appropriate OASIS staff.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver foundational organizational trainings regarding OASIS services, the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, human trafficking, community resources, and coordinated community response for employees, interns, volunteers, and community partners.
• Collaborate with program staff to strengthen multidisciplinary partnerships and increase awareness of specialized OASIS services across healthcare, judicial, housing, education, shelter, and other community systems.
• Support coordinated community response efforts by participating in multidisciplinary initiatives, assisting with outreach planning, and promoting consistent organizational messaging, as appropriate.
• Work closely with the Avery Services Advocate to strengthen outreach efforts, identify emerging needs, and support coordinated community engagement throughout Avery County.
Outreach Planning & Organizational Support
• Monitor community trends, service gaps, partnership opportunities, and emerging needs while providing recommendations that strengthen outreach strategies and organizational responsiveness.
• Coordinate outreach calendars, presentations, and community engagement activities in collaboration with internal staff and community partners.
• Communicate regularly with the Development Director regarding outreach priorities, emerging needs, partnership development, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
External Relations
• Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of outreach, education, community, and fundraising initiatives.
• Deliver presentations, trainings, workshops, outreach activities, or educational programming, as appropriate to the position.
• Ensure that communications, programming, and engagement activities reflect trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners while representing OASIS professionally in community meetings, outreach events, coalitions, and collaborative initiatives.
• Collaborate across OASIS programs to strengthen community partnerships, coordinate initiatives, and expand awareness of OASIS services and community resources.
Program Impact & Evaluation
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of outreach, education, community engagement, donor relations, and program activities in accordance with organizational and funding requirements.
• Track required program activities and data to support evaluation, organizational accountability, and compliance with funding requirements.
• Communicate relevant program information to supervisors and team members to support coordination, planning, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions
Because OASIS engages diverse communities through outreach, education, prevention, and public engagement initiatives, flexibility and responsiveness to changing organizational and community needs are essential components of this position.
Work may be performed in office, schools, healthcare settings, businesses, government agencies, outdoor venues, and other community locations and requires travel throughout Watauga and Avery Counties.
Scheduled work may include evenings, weekends, community events, trainings, conferences, and outreach activities based on organizational needs.
This position requires sound professional judgment, effective communication and public speaking skills, strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, and the ability to represent OASIS professionally in a variety of community settings. Duties may involve varied weather conditions, transporting outreach materials, extended periods of standing, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
