Reaching New Heights in Public Transit
AppalCART’s new double decker is the 42.5-foot Enviro500 from Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. and one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers. Standing 13.5 feet tall, the bus seats 88 passengers and allows for standees, comfortably accommodating over 100 riders at once. Built in the United States through a partnership with Big Rig Manufacturing, this model brings both capacity and efficiency to Boone’s fare-free transit system. Similar buses are used in Las Vegas, Toronto, and across the U.K., offering a proven track record of high-volume service. The arrival of this eye-catching vehicle signals a bold step forward for public transportation in the High Country.
