Tara Fenner

Tara Fenner accepted a full-time position at Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC in January 2008 and is now a senior manager of the Audit Department. While working as an intern, she graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in May 2007 and obtained a Master of Accountancy in December 2008. She worked in the audit department of our Johnson City office until November 2020, when she relocated with her two children to manage and grow our Boone office.

Tara has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Tennessee since 2012 and obtained a reciprocal license in the state of North Carolina in 2021. She has been a TN Certified Municipal Finance Officer since 2014. She is a past recipient of the Tri-Cities Business Journal 40 Under Forty award and graduate of the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce Leadership 2020. She has obtained the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Intermediate Employee Benefit Plan Certification, the Intermediate Single Audit Certification, and the Advanced Defined Contribution Plan Certification. Tara’s experience includes employee benefit plans, governmental entities, Medicare cost report preparation, consulting services, and financial institutions. She is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of CPA’s, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is also dedicated to volunteering and has served as a past-president and treasurer of the Johnson City Kiwanis Club, Race Director for the Johnson City Kiwanis Soap Box Derby, and a book buddy for a local daycare.
