The Boone Area Chamber team is taking some well deserved time away from the office over the holidays. We will be fully closed Monday, December 22nd-Sunday, December 29th. Eric Plaag is a professional historical consultant who moved to Boone in2011. Since his arrival, he has served the Boone community in a number of volunteer capacities, including four terms as chairperson of the Boone Historic Preservation Commission, one term on the board of the Downtown Boone Development Association, and two terms as vice chair of the Boone Planning Commission. He also served for eight years on the Board of Trustees of the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country, and hehas been the treasurer of the Watauga County Historical Society since 2016 and the chairperson of the Digital Watauga Project since its founding in 2014. Eric was elected to the Boone Town Council in November 2023 for a four-year term. Eric is committed to finding near and long-term solutions for protecting and developing housing stock for working families and individuals, while also developing cooperative, integrity-based relationships with county government and ASU leadership that hold all three entities accountable for the impacts of their decisions on the people and small businesses of Boone.
