Title: Low Voltage Technician

Purpose of Position: To provide skilled installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of a variety of telephone equipment, intercom, network, CCTV and fire alarm systems, including satellite systems.

Reports To: IT Project Manager

Employment Status: Full-time

Starting Pay: $8.50, with a potential of $15 depending on experience and raises after initial 60-day review period

Location: Boone, North Carolina

Maintenance & Operations Essential Functions: Install, service, repair, and maintain a variety of specialized telephone and electronic equipment including network, cable, satellite, Voice-Over-IP, intercom, , bell, CCTV and fire alarm systems. Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, program, and service electrical or network equipment; assist end users with set-up, operation and configuration changes as necessary. Replace components in a variety of systems as needed; estimate time and materials for needed repairs, upgrades, or equipment replacement.

Schedule routine preventive maintenance work and maintain accurate records and logs of such activity; requisition parts, components and supplies as required.

Install cable, conduit, in homes and businesses. Work from plans, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and work orders.

Drive a vehicle to and from work sites, suppliers and contractors. Perform related duties as assigned. Must have reliable transportation.

Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Indoor and outdoor work environments. Must be able to work alone and be a problem solver.  Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools; bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, standing for extended periods of time; reaching above the head to store or retrieve materials; hearing and speaking to exchange information; seeing to perform skilled work and read meters or gauges; lifting and carrying heavy equipment or materials; using ladders; working in cramped spaces.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Interpret and work from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, blueprints or work orders. Cross training will be offered for IT Systems, Sales and Management.

Ability to work safely and productively around clients. Diagnose problems with telephone systems, Voice-Over-IP call managers, intercom, CCTV, and bell systems. Proper use and care of electronic test equipment and tools associated with the trade. Meet schedules and timelines. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff, co-workers, vendors, and other professionals when needed; work independently with limited direct supervision. Maintain simple and concise records and prepare accurate reports; maintain inventories of equipment or warranties.

Salary: $8.50 to $15.00 /hour
