Professional Bio

Carrie Afanador is a DOJ Accredited Representative (DHS only) and Executive Director of Immigrant Connection of the High Country. She has worked for several years to get an immigration legal site established in the High Country and is thrilled to be able to offer high-quality, low-cost legal services.​​

She was previously Director of Clinical Education in the College of Education at Appalachian State University. She also has served as Director of Children’s Ministry at a local church and taught at various levels in Virginia Beach, Colombia, China, and Cameroon.​

She has a degree in education (English/ESL) and Master’s of Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She lives with her husband, Francisco, and three children in Boone.
