The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce announces the first annual Watauga Women in Leadership Gala, focused on Powerful Voices, with keynote speaker WBTV's Molly Grantham.

The event will take place on September 22nd from 5:00-8:00pm at The Inn at Crestwood.

The evening will also feature past Women of the Year Award Recipients including Wendy Patoprsty, Carolyn Clark, Captain Carolynn Johnson, Christy Gottfried, and Yolanda Adams.

The keynote sponsor is presented by First National Bank, with event support presented by Beech Mountain Resort and South's Specialty Clothiers, and additional sponsorship support from First Horizon Bank, Stacie Pineda Real Estate Group, and the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University

Molly Grantham is the evening news anchor at WBTV News and a three-time Emmy award winning journalist who has been named TV News Reporter of the Year for both Carolinas and a Charlottean of the Year by Charlotte Magazine in 2020. She juggles life with humor and poise, and is a popular speaker who helps working women feel seen. Her 2018 Tedx Talk, called The Real We Are, broke through stereotypes about women and image, and her two books both sold out on Amazon in their first week. Both are funny, accurate, real-life accounts of showing imperfections in relatable ways. (Think the directness of author/comedian Nora Ephron, combined with Renee Zellweger’s inner-monologue in Bridget Jones Diary.) You can get signed copies on www.mollygrantham.com.

Molly has been at WBTV News since 2003. She has covered gangs, terrorism, and the fight to legalize cannabis oil in North Carolina, where she helped change state law. She is also actively involved in Charlotte’s cancer community and well-known for writing about children with a variety of uphill medical battles. She and her husband have an 11-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son, and a (surprise!) baby boy born in July 2020, during COVID.

Your $75 ticket includes:

  • Two drink tickets
  • Heavy hors d'oeuvres

  • Conversation with Molly Grantham and past Women of the Year Award Recipients

A portion of the net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Women of Walker at Appalachian State University as well as scholarship opportunities for young female students at Watauga High School.
